Guitar and Vocals
Chris Saub has been in and out of the Omaha music scene for more than a decade. In the last two years, showing his prolific songwriting nature, Saub has released a staggering four albums. In addition to his recordings Saub has been busy maintaining a performance schedule playing four nights a week for the last two years. A staple to the local music scene Saub hopes his latest release Aero Regalla- a vibrant pop-rock album filled with feel good music, will open new doors and expand his market to a desired regional or national platform.
Saub, born in Philadelphia, PA, found his rearing years in the Midwest. His family moved to Omaha when he was 8 years old. After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelors degree in Pre-Law/Political Science Saub immersed himself in the local music scene with being involved with four different groups at the same time: an original blues/rock band where he played bass, a hip-hop group where he programmed all the music and played live guitar, an original group pop-alternative group with a more spiritual emphasis he fronted and wrote for, and another original Power-pop group called Someday Mission that would a decade later become the Chris Saub Band, then Trio, then merely the artist himself, Chris Saub.
Saub took a two year break from music and went on a soul searching “walk-about” to Texas. Saub believes this period of time allowed him to find his true self, his path and shed a majority of his boyhood tendencies that were holding him back from explorering music, life and the world we live in.
Upon his return Saub grabbed former Someday Mission band mates and began playing the local scene again. At the start of 2004 Saub made a very difficult decision to let go his friend and current lead vocalist to begin fronting the band himself. The Chris Saub band was born. 6 months later they found themselves in the studio working on their first album, Holding on to Venus.
In addition to playing live music venues, Saub found himself on off-nites playing his acoustic guitar in coffees shops. Not content to sell a full band Power Pop recording to acoustic fans, Saub found himself again in the studio recording a solo acoustic album, Sparing Dramas in Tiny Spaces.
After a huge break becoming a regional finalist for the reality TV series Rockstar INXS, Saub found his bookings quadruple. Most of his bookings were solo acoustic performances. A venue asked him to bring a friend to add to the singer/songwriter format. A friend Matthew Tobias answered the call. In a few months a new bass player was added to this side project and it was soon to be called the Chris Saub Trio; two different groups playing two different styles of music. The Trio hit the studio the Spring of 2006 and recorded Hummingbird Flies Laissez Faire.
As time continued the Trio grew in popularity to where they not only did Saub’s more relaxing acoustic songs, but also Saub’s Power-pop music. The two became one. Shortly after the release of Hummingbird, Saub took his band back into the studio with producer Jason Burkum and began working on Aero Regalla, Saub’s latest release, a return to Rock and Roll.
Recently Saub has been blessed with an Omaha Entertainment Award Nomination as Best Singer Songwriter. MTV2 “On the Rise” campaign voted Chris Saub number one band in Omaha. KXVO, the local WB TV station, had him as Artist of the Week.
Currently Saub is working diligently trying to get his band from the local ranks to the regional ranks. Aero Regalla is getting some rave reviews and is opening doors for this to happen. 2007 should be an exciting year for Chris and all in his camp.
The machine keeps rolling along.
